Visual Studio 2008 introduced the Visual Studio Shell that allows for development of a customized version of the IDE. The Visual Studio Shell defines a set of VSPackages that provide the functionality required in any IDE. On top of that, other packages can be added to customize the installation. The Isolated mode of the shell creates a new AppId where the packages are installed. These are to be started with a different executable. It is aimed for development of custom development environments, either for a specific language or a specific scenario. The Integrated mode installs the packages into the AppId of the Professional/Standard/Team System editions, so that the tools integrate into these editions.[19] The Visual Studio Shell is available as a free download.

The app in question was originally created before UPD 2 I believe but it ran just fine after applying UPD 2. Like I said I think I screwed it up either adding an extension or reference from lightswitch 2011 or VS 2010 tutorials. Either that or by downloading a few extensions such as document toolkit. I've unloaded and reloaded the project and removed a few references that I knew were added when I added a few extensions. Thanks for your help and I don't know what to do except maybe create a new project and copy files from the project that won't build.

Earlier this summer I blogged about IIS Express. IIS Express is a free version of IIS 7.5 that is optimized for developer scenarios. We think it combines the ease of use of the ASP.NET Web Server (aka Cassini) currently built-into VS today with the full power of IIS. Specifically:
